3.24.19 Praise & Prayer Prompt: What Story Does Your Life Tell Others?

PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• I’ve been a writer in my community for over 10 years.

Through my writing assignments, I’ve met and written about a lot of people.

One common truth I’ve learned about every person I’ve interviewed—everyone has a story.

Some tell their stories easier than others.

But everyone has one.

As Christians, we are called to live out our faith.

Matthew 5:16 is arguably the most popular verse on the matter…

Jesus said, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

He has told us to let our life be reflective of our faith.

So my question today is this: What story does your life tell others?

If you never spoke a word, what would your actions say?

Would your life reflect selfishness or selflessness?

Would your life reflect taking or giving?

Would your life reflect Jesus?

Our actions will not save us, but our actions may encourage someone else to seek their own salvation.

It’s why this matters so much!

The words we speak, the jokes we laugh at, the way we behave — does it show the difference Christ has made in your life?

Or is your story any different from an unbeliever?

Peter wrote, “For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly” (1 Peter 2:21-23).

Today, as you pray, thank Jesus for setting the example.

Ask the Holy Spirit to show you things you need to do or change in your life so that the story you tell will shine with a Jesus-kind-of-difference.
