1.6.19 Praise & Prayer Prompt: Left Behind

PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Last night, I really wanted to start a new book, but I couldn’t decide what to read.

So, instead, I hopped on PureFlix (a Christian version of Netflix with faith-based and family films).

And I finished watching the Left Behind movies.

I am not very good at sitting through movies.

I tend to get restless, but it kept me engaged.

However, I know the Left Behind books so well, it was a little weird to see the changes made for the sake of the movie versions.

Stories or discussions about the rapture used to scare me and make me very uncomfortable.

But for those of us who believe in Jesus, the rapture won’t be scary.

We’re told in 1 Thessalonians 4:17, “After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.”

Our future will be daily worship of Jesus with Jesus!

It will be wonderful for us!

However, there’s no denying the terrifying side of the rapture.

Can you imagine what it will be like for those left behind??

Jesus said in Luke 17:34-35, “I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left.”

Scripture tells us that “the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night” (1 Thessalonians 5:2b).

Yet, we live our lives as if we have all the time in the world.

Biblical prophecy of the end times is all around us.

It boils down to willful ignorance to assume otherwise.

We need to have a sense of urgency about this.

We serve a loving, incredibly patient God, but He will not delay forever.

Today, as you pray, thank Jesus for the truth that He will return.

Thank Him for conquering death so that we can experience the joy of eternal life with Him.

Ask the Holy Spirit to empower you and encourage you to boldly share with others about Jesus so they can get ready too.

And pray for those who need to accept Jesus as their personal Savior—that their hearts will be open to God’s truth and the lies of the enemy will not prevail in their lives.
