PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Fridays are the most highly anticipated day of the week.
There’s even a restaurant named after the occasion (TGI Friday’s).
For many, Friday represents payday and of course, it ushers in the start of a weekend break.
Unless you work retail.
The retail and restaurant workers cater to those who are saying, “Thank God it’s Friday!”
Yes, it’s nice to have a weekend off.
But what about the other days of the week?
Not many of us say, “Thank God it’s Monday!”
The thing that bothers me about this phrase is that the context isn’t reverent.
Please don’t think I’m judging because I’ve said it myself.
But the more I learn who God is and the closer I get to Him, the more I feel strongly that we have to be sincere in our gratitude about EVERYTHING, especially when we’re using His name.
Every day we wake up is a gift from God.
Lamentations 3:22-23 says, “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”
No matter what day of the week is reflected on the calendar, let’s thank God for it.
With sincerity and recognition for the gift that it is…
Whether it’s the day the bank account has been refilled or a day that the bank account is running on fumes.
Whether it’s a day we are going to work or a day we can stay at home.
Today, as you pray, thank God that it’s Friday.
And tomorrow, thank Him that it’s Saturday.
When Monday rolls around, be thankful for it too.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you make the most of each day, worshiping Jesus and being grateful for the gift of another day.
