4.30.18 Praise & Prayer Prompt: A Reason To Be Excited About Monday

PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Mondays have such a bad reputation.

And it’s not that there’s anything bad about Monday, but it’s more of a guilt-by-association kind of thing.

The weekend is over and “playtime” is over.

But when we think about our weekends, are they really relaxing?

Housework, yard work, soccer games, grocery shopping, laundry, entertaining, catching up on all we need to do.

I’m not listing church in here because that’s a privilege, not a have-to-do.

My weekends are always jammed packed.

Of course, I’m one of those people who sees 30 seconds open on the schedule so I need to fill it.

With all that said, I feel kind of bad for Monday, since it has such a negative connotation.

I generally don’t mind Mondays though.

I am such a creature of habit and I like routines.

Monday is a part of a new week.

A new agenda.

New opportunities.

But I won’t lie…

I’m so tired today.

I have a crazy-busy week ahead and I barely slept last night.

So I don’t look at Monday with dread so much as I just really want to have a pillow and blanket nearby.

It’ll be okay.

“I can do all things through Christ,” right y’all?

And He gave us coffee beans.

All good.

With that said, every morning we wake up (no matter the day of the week) is a new opportunity to shine for Him.

To celebrate His great goodness.

A couple of verses to look at today…

Psalm 118:24 NLT says, “This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.”

Even Mondays.

And Lamentations 3:22-23 says, “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”

Both passages are bursting with promise, hope, and new beginnings.

Whether you’re bouncing around the house getting ready with great enthusiasm, or you’re more like me (I have embraced my inner-sloth this morning), it’s a great day.

A new day.

Because God gave it to us.

Today, as you pray, praise the Lord for His new mercies and ongoing faithfulness, which should be celebrated every day!

Pray that the Holy Spirit will help you rejoice in the day, even if it is Monday!

And pray for wisdom and guidance throughout the week.
