PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• My BFF and I live in different states and when we get on the phone, it’s not unusual for our conversations to turn to spiritual matters.
It doesn’t happen in every conversation, but it does happen.
When I look at the history of our friendship, I see a miracle.
Because the conversations we have now versus the ones we had in the past are very different.
We’ve taken individual journeys in many ways, but we have always been there for each other.
By the grace of God, we are on the same road today.
I love that the “Best Friends Forever” title we give each other is accurate because we will continue our friendship in heaven!
When I look at the friendships in my life, there have been relationships that weren’t the best fit for me.
Some people will bring you down.
It’s hard to walk away from those friendships, but sometimes—very necessary.
We need our friends to encourage us and lift us up.
And we should do the same for them!
And if a friendship fails to do that, it’s time to re-evaluate.
In Romans 1:12 NLT, the Apostle Paul wrote, “When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours.”
When my BFF and I talk, she encourages me.
So much more than I can ever put into words.
Sometimes she encourages me with positive words I need to hear, but she also loves me enough to sometimes say the things I don’t want to hear.
And I hope I do for her a fraction of what she does for me.
Most of all, I know my BFF is a prayer warrior for any request I bring to the table.
We haven’t always prayed for each other, but that we do now is the best gift.
It’s added so much to our friendship.
We need friends who pray for us and we need to do the same for them (James 5:16).
Today, as you pray, give praise to the Lord for encouraging friendships.
Thank Him for friends who encourage you to look to Him and grow in Him.
Ask Him to help you be the same kind of encouraging friend to others…
And pray for your friends today, that they will seek God’s will in all things.
