3.25.18 Praise Prompt: Searching for God

PRAISE PROMPT ••• Easter is in a week and if your Facebook or Pinterest page looks like mine, ideas for Easter egg hunts are plentiful.

I haven’t taken the time to research the history of why hunting for eggs is a part of the Easter season, but it kind of hit me this morning…

We really do spend a lifetime searching, don’t we?

Sometimes it’s Easter eggs, or the perfect Christmas gift (depending on the season!)…

Other times our car keys…

Maybe it’s a new job, a new house, the perfect dress for a big event…

We are always in pursuit of something.

We look for things to fulfill us, meet our immediate needs or long-range plans.

We seek, and sometimes we find.

Sometimes we find, discover it’s not what we want, and resume the search.

The thing about searching is rarely do the things we seek come to us.

With one notable exception.

Deuteronomy 4:29 NLT says, “But from there you will search again for the Lord your God. And if you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him.”

And in James 4:8a, it says, “Come close to God, and God will come close to you.”

And King David wrote in Psalm 145:18, “The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth.”

These are just three examples.

The Bible demonstrates time and again how God wants us to have a relationship with Him.

And even more amazing, how He wants a relationship with us!

If someone wants a connection with another, they don’t hide.

And God doesn’t play games.

This isn’t a spiritual game of hide and go seek.

Anyone who calls on Him with a heart of true repentance will be saved (Romans 10:13).

And when we meet God, we begin to crave to know more about Him.

He continues to teach us and draw closer to us the more we grow in our faith.

Today, let’s offer praises to God and thank Him for being so personal!

Let’s thank Him that He’s there, excited for us to find Him, and willing to let us know Him!
