10.30.17 Prayer Prompt: God’s Mercies and Faithfulness

PRAYER PROMPT ••• Yesterday, God encouraged me to share a deeply personal prayer request with my Sunday School class.

He used a friend to remind me of a Scripture I needed to hear.

And later, He opened up the door for a new friend to share some burdens and for us to pray together.

Many tears yesterday but a reminder that no matter how big the obstacle or overwhelming the situation, God is bigger.

Lamentations 3:22-24 says, “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!’”

These verses weren’t just in my Bible reading, they were also in one of my devotions!

Friends, that’s not a coincidence.

God is speaking.

He often speaks in whispers but to me, this is a thunderous shout!

It’s easy to think we’re alone.

For all the billions of people in the world and all the tools to connect us, many of us feel disconnected.

But for those who have trusted in Christ, we’re never alone!

We are His.

Nothing we say or do can cancel out the gift of salvation; but we (ourselves) can create a chasm in our walk with God.

We beat ourselves up over past wrongs.

Things we did and things we should have done.

I am so good at beating myself up.

Seriously, if it were me against me in a boxing match, I’d win the title in a knockout punch every time.

I’m not good at forgiving myself, though I’m working on it (thank you, Sandra, for sending those verses!)

Using the verses that God’s given me twice in less than 30 minutes, let’s break it down.

God’s love can be counted on and it lasts forever.

There’s nothing we can do that His grace and mercy cannot cover.

Every day is a new opportunity to experience God’s presence and the mercy He offers.

If we believe in God’s Son, we are God’s children and we are promised an inheritance of eternal life.

We can expect all this because God’s never broken a promise and He is trustworthy.

Today, as you pray, thank God for these verses!

Thank Him for His mercy and presence.

Thank Him for being bigger than any mountain and thank Him for wanting a personal relationship with us.
