I think few of us could ever claim that we were never stubborn and of those who claim it, there would likely be a line of people behind them to dispute it.
Being stubborn is more than just wanting our own way.
It’s often coupled with willfulness, defiance, and a disregard for others.
Stubbornness is a sin.
It’s one I’m definitely guilty of and in the last few months, I’ve fervently prayed that I would be humbled from my stubborn heart.
It’s a sin rooted in pride and when we can swallow that pride, and surrender our stubborn tendencies, we can draw closer to the Lord. I
It puts us in a position to recognize God’s authority and prioritize His will over ours.
Bonus — laying down stubborn tendencies will also help improve the relationships with those around us.
It doesn’t make us weak or a door mat for people to walk on — it means we recognize that other people’s opinions matter too.
Pray that the Lord will help you humble your heart and stubborn ways… that He will help you to love Him and others more than loving your own way.
