2.4.19 Praise & Prayer Prompt: Do They Want What You Have?

PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Women pay attention to shoes.
At least, most do.
I’m actually more of a purse girl, but this image worked better…
So for the sake of this devotion and for all my shoe-loving friends… we’re going with shoes.
How often do you see someone wearing cute shoes, and wonder, “Where did they get those?”
The options are endless, but ladies, I think we can all agree on the most frustrating answer… consignment store!
Cute shoes AND a great deal.
It’s a recipe for all kinds of jealousy.
We often want what others have…
Some of us even being bold enough to approach a stranger to ask where they went shopping.
But more important than shoes…
As Christians, are we wearing our faith in such a way that it makes others stop and take notice?
Do we ever consider whether or not our Christianity is something that others can see in us?
And if they do see it — do we wear it well enough that others want what we have?
1 Thessalonians 1:6-7 says, “And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you received the word in much affliction, with the joy of the Holy Spirit, so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia.”
We may not know anyone in Macedonia or Achaia, but we have the same responsibility no matter where we live.
How can we be an example of a true Christ-follower?
The sad truth is, there are some who have misrepresented what being a Christian looks like, and therefore, we are surrounded by skeptics who view Christianity as a negative.
They believe the Bible is a book of rules to be followed or you’ll go to hell.
The truth is that the Bible is about our inability to do that and so Jesus came to offer us a solution to a problem we can never fix.
With all that said, it’s up to us.
We have an uphill battle because of that misconception, but as Christians, we are the church.
It’s up to us to live it in a way that others want what we have.
Today, as you pray, thank Jesus for being the solution.
Thank Him for being the answer we desperately need.
And ask the Holy Spirit to help you show others what it means to live for Christ…
And to live it so well, they will want it for themselves too.
