2.25.22 Praise & Prayer Prompt: Wars & Rumors of War

TODAY’S SIGNATURE VERSE ••• For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. (Romans 1:16 NKJV)

PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• I had something else in mind today, but in light of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, I changed topics. Like most of the world, I woke up to yesterday’s news and was deeply saddened for the people of Ukraine. I am horrified by the Russian attack. But I remain confident that this was not a surprise to God.

Friends, we are in the end times. I’m no end times prophesy expert, but I have read my Bible. I posted Jesus’ Words yesterday — “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows” (Matthew 24:6-8).

I’m going to keep this short today. I don’t want to get into the political side of this, and frankly, it’s too much of a temptation. Politicians and blame game aside — this is part of the process. Instead of spending a lot of time delving into this, I want to share some resources and encourage you to read this for yourself.

And then — I want to encourage you to be bold. Paul wrote, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek” (Romans 1:16). And later, he wrote to the Ephesians in Ephesians 6:18-19, “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel.”

He prayed to be equipped to share the gospel boldly. And we need to pray that for each other, ourselves, and ask the Holy Spirit to guide us and encourage us to tell others. We can’t be shy about it or embarrassed by what others will think! We need to pray harder than ever for the Holy Spirit to bring revival so that those who are still lost can hear the truth — and hopefully make a decision for Jesus.

That said…. I encourage you to read your Bible. No other resource I point you to will matter if you’re not spending time in God’s Word. It comes first.

But the following links and titles are from people whose doctrine I trust, and I’ve read:

Today, as you pray, thank God that no matter how scary or chaotic things seem, He is still in control. He cannot be surprised, and nothing happens without His permission. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you strength and words to speak truth to others. Ask Him to use this to bring strong prayer warriors to the table and others to Christ.
