PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• I am officially self-employed!
My last day at work was yesterday.
This is a scary time as I begin to build my own business.
But my husband and I are trusting God in this!
I’ve found this whole process of preparing to step out into entrepreneurship and leave the comfort of a regular paycheck and benefits to be a study of contrasts.
On one hand, I need self-confidence in my skills in order to step out…
On the other hand, I know that any success I have is going to be dependent on a humble spirit as I trust in God to lead me.
I ask you all to pray for me in the coming weeks and months as I build my business!
Side note before I continue, several people have asked me if I’m going to keep doing MGFL once I’m self-employed.
Absolutely.
There’s no reason I wouldn’t.
But getting back on track, let’s talk about Romans 11:18. “…do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you.”
This verse is actually a part of a warning Paul wrote to the Gentiles, reminding them that they have been grafted on to the family tree of Jesus, and God’s chosen people, the Israelites.
But it reminds me of the “I Am the Vine” statement of Jesus.
I’m slightly out of context, but I love the visual that comes with the words so I’m using them for this point.
The truth is, without being rooted in Jesus, and reminding ourselves that He is who anchors us, then our pride can destroy us.
It’s not me supporting this!
It’s Jesus supporting me!
My life in the coming days, weeks, months, and (I pray!) years is going to be based on service.
And my greatest prayer for my business isn’t rooted in financial success (though I certainly need it to be profitable!) but is rooted in the hope that my business will shine a light for Christ.
It’s my prayer in all I do.
And I hope it is your prayer for yourself too!
Today, as you pray, thank Jesus for being the very root that nourishes us and holds us up.
Ask the Holy Spirit to remind your heart often of how much you need to depend on Jesus every day.
And once again, I ask for your prayers for my new direction.
