PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Do you ever feel like you should go through life with a hard hat and a bright yellow “Under Construction” shirt?
We are all under construction, works-in-progress.
God is constantly working on us.
And there is nothing so frustrating as to think you’ve conquered a particular sin, to then trip up in it again.
And you have to cry out, “Holy Spirit! I hit another pothole!”
We all make mistakes and there is always room for improvement.
While all sin is detestable to God, the sin of pride…
What can I say?
There’s a reason it’s called the root of all evil.
Our own arrogance is constantly at odds with the work the Holy Spirit is trying to do in our lives.
It’s a matter of taking our prideful spirits and I think we can all agree, the taming process takes a lifetime.
The great news is that for those who trust in Christ, our personal construction projects will eventually be complete.
Philippians 1:6 says, “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
I look forward to the day when potholes don’t exist in my life and I can be perfectly whole at the feet of Jesus.
Today, as you pray, thank Jesus for being a carpenter who knows how to build things.
Thank Him that He’s been working on you non-stop.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you to stop getting in the way of construction.
Ask Him to pour humility over your pride and to simply trust.
