PRAYER PROMPT ••• Last night, my husband and I had dinner with some friends from church and the discussion turned to spiritual matters.
It really turned into a celebration of God’s faithfulness.
From the promises He keeps about saving all those who ask; to the promises to be with us in the middle of all life’s storms; and the promises to work out all things for good…
I told our friends that the Holy Spirit had convicted my heart earlier in the week about thanking God for miracles I’ve prayed about, even if they haven’t happened yet.
Because I know He’s going to keep His promise.
So why not thank Him beforehand?
I do it for others.
For example, if I know my husband is going to do the laundry, I don’t need to wait until it’s done to thank him.
I can thank him beforehand because I know if he says he’s working on it, he will do it.
Why shouldn’t I do the same for God?
The things I’ve prayed about all line up under promises He’s made in Scripture, so I know that I’m not asking for anything outside of His will.
And I know that God’s promises are worth trusting.
Unlike us, He doesn’t forget what He says He will do.
And, since Jesus is the Truth (John 14:6), He cannot lie.
Titus 1:2 says, “This truth gives them confidence that they have eternal life, which God—who does not lie—promised them before the world began.”
Because God is pure in truth and faithful to fulfill His promises, I can trust in Him to do what He says.
Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 1:19-20, “For Jesus Christ, the Son of God, does not waver between ‘Yes’ and ‘No.’ He is the one whom Silas, Timothy, and I preached to you, and as God’s ultimate ‘Yes,’ he always does what he says. For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding ‘Yes!’ And through Christ, our ‘Amen’ (which means ‘Yes’) ascends to God for his glory.”
We are so blessed to serve the One whose promises never break!
And that’s worthy of our gratitude before our prayers are even answered.
Today, as you pray, thank God for answering your prayers, even if you’re still waiting for the answer.
Thank Him that you know He’s faithful to fulfill every promise He’s made in His timing.
