2.16.19 Praise & Prayer Prompt: Are You Reflecting God’s Goodness?

PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Fun fact about me—I love reading stories about the Old West.
My favorites are the stories of Billy the Kid, Wyatt Earp, and Doc Holliday.
As such, any movies that have come out about these three legends of the Old West generally catch my attention.
One of my favorites, “Tombstone” was released in 1993, and in the 26 years that have passed since the very first time I saw the movie, one line, in particular, has stayed with me.
Spoken by the character Morgan Earp (played by Bill Paxton), “Look at all the stars. You look up and you think, ‘God made all this and He remembered to make a little speck like me.’ It’s kind of flattering, really.”
Whether or not the real-life Morgan Earp ever said that or not—I have no idea.
But seldom do I look up at the stars and not think of that line.
I realize that it may just be a Hollywood movie line, but it holds a great deal of wisdom and truth.
With that said, let’s look to the world around us.
Psalm 19:1 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.”
The evidence of God is in the nature that surrounds us…
From the stars above, the oceans, the trees, everything is a reflection of His great ingenuity, creativity, and glorious goodness.
But what about you?
You too were made by God, and moreover, made in His image.
Are you doing your part to reflect His great goodness?
Is the life you lead glorifying to Him?
If the heavens and sky can proclaim God without a voice, how much more should we be able to do so?
Today, as you pray, thank God for nature to remind us of all He has created and done.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you be a reflection of God’s greatness, love, compassion, kindness, and mercy!
