2.11.19 Praise & Prayer Prompt: Blessings of Dew

PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• In Genesis 27:28, we read, “May God give you of the dew of heaven and of the fatness of the earth and plenty of grain and wine.”
This is an excerpt from Isaac’s blessing, spoken to Jacob.
The term dew is interesting.
As y’all know, I’m not a theologian, but does it make you wonder why Isaac didn’t want to bless his son with rain from heaven?
There’s generally more that comes with rain than there is with dew.
But as I consider this, rain can also bring disaster, as Noah could attest a few generations earlier.
Dew, on the other hand, is a quiet, humble kind of nourishment to the earth.
It’s not overwhelming, but it can offer sustenance.
It’s dependable and consistent in the regions where it’s known to form.
The blessing of dew demonstrates a wisdom that Isaac wanted to bestow.
More is not always better, but we can trust God to provide what we need.
Today, as you pray, thank God who sends both dew and rain.
Thank Him that He generously provides what we need.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you be content with the dew-blessings in your life.
Ask Him to help you appreciate the simplicity that comes from this subtle and often under-appreciated gift.
