PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• For many, the idea of Christianity means missing out on fun or the “you only live once” philosophy.
That couldn’t be further from the truth.
Peter wrote, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9).
But let’s back up a few verses…
Verses 4-5 say, “As you come to him, the living Stone —rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”
When we accept the gift of Salvation from the “Stone the builders rejected”— the Cornerstone who is Jesus, we become another part of the Church of Christ.
To be set apart doesn’t mean we’re denied “life” as the world defines it.
It means we’re promised more.
We have something better to look forward to — eternal life.
We are set apart for more.
We are God’s special possession.
We are precious to Him.
Today, as you pray, ponder what it means to be set apart for God.
To be His.
Give praise to the One who set you free from the darkness of sin and Who has promised you everlasting life.
