PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• I decided my morning devotion time needed a little freshening up.
To refresh my routine meant I had to swap out something.
I decided to swap my daily email devotions for books.
I have a stack of them I never seem to get to, and a brand new book I had waited for over six months to release.
I’ve loved this change in my routine!
This morning, I finished reading Lysa TerKeurst’s new book, “It’s Not Supposed To Be This Way.”
Friends – I was halfway through on Saturday when I posted on Facebook that this book was a game-changer.
Now that I’ve finished, I need to add a whole string of exclamation points behind that statement.
I want to go buy 20 copies of this book so I can give it away to anyone who is feeling disappointed or discouraged.
It has offered me so much wisdom and insight.
I struggle daily with hurt and discouragement.
It’s hard to sit back and watch someone you love make decisions you never could have fathomed, and choices that you know will only lead to heartache.
It’s hard to watch someone do the very opposite of what’s good for them—and be powerless to stop them.
Lysa’s book hasn’t fixed my situation.
But through her godly words of wisdom, she’s offered spiritual counsel and encouragement to anyone who is asking “why me?” and wondering why God has allowed certain situations in their lives.
This is a first—I’ve never used MGFL this way, but I really encourage you to read this book.
We all experience disappointment; it’s a book for every one of us.
And Proverbs 31 Online Bible Studies will use this book for the study that will begin on January 21st.
I can’t wait to go through the book again.
If you’re interested, the link to sign up for the study can click here.
Today, as you pray, thank God for the courage of author’s like Lysa TerKeurst who are willing to be vulnerable and honest about their pain, and ask the questions we all wonder.
Thank the Holy Spirit for the Biblical wisdom He gives to those who are willing to be obedient to His calling.
And if you’re in a season of disappointment or hurt, ask God to direct you to verses that will offer you encouragement and hope…
That God is good and that He has a good plan.
