12.26.17: Prayer Prompt: Praise God

PRAYER PROMPT ••• When we get a new car, we like to tell about the great deal we got or the car’s outstanding performance.
When our kids come home with straight A’s or score winning points, we like to tell let everyone know.
When we get a promotion; plan a vacation; and when we had an exciting accomplishment, we want to share those details.
We’re very good at celebrating those moments, but how often do we celebrate what God has done?
In Psalm 145, King David makes a point to glorify God and how great He is.
This Psalm is all about praising God and all He does.
Some key verses are 2, 6b, 11b, and 21.
“I will praise you every day; yes, I will praise you forever. I will proclaim your greatness. They will give examples of your power. I will praise the Lord, and may everyone on earth bless his holy name forever and ever.”
There’s a Facebook post for you.
If social media had been available to King David, don’t you know this would have been plastered all over Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram??
His enthusiasm for the Lord jumps off the page!
I hope you’ll take the time to read the whole chapter.
David was so good at praising God and pointing out specifics.
Many generations later, so was the Apostle Paul.
In 2 Corinthians 12:9b, Paul wrote, “So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.”
Like David, Paul knew it wasn’t about him, but all about Him with the capital H!
When we share the details, shouldn’t we also share what God’s doing in our lives?
Shift our focus from inward, to heavenward?
Why is it so hard for us to point out the details of what God is doing in our lives?
Are we afraid we’ll sound weird to others?
Or in this age of walking on broken glass for fear of offending others, are we worried they will drop us from their friend list if we say too much about God?
We have so much to praise God for.
We need to open our mouths and share it.
Look for His mighty works and share them with the world!
Today, as you pray, ask the Holy Spirit to empower you to share what He is doing in your life.
Ask Him see help you see the greatness of God and all He’s doing.
Ask Him to remove any hesitation about speaking it.
