PRAYER PROMPT ••• Yesterday’s Prayer Prompt was about living every moment for Jesus.
Today, let’s talk about walking with Him.
Amos 3:3 asks the question, “Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction?”
The answer is, without question, no.
Ask any parent who has tried to walk in a mall or amusement park with a five-year-old.
It’s very hard to walk with someone who is constantly tugging to go a different way.
When it comes to our walk with Jesus, He’s already given us the direction.
It’s all laid out for us in the Bible.
When we let ourselves be distracted and get off course, He will gently pull us back.
But sometimes, we will drop His hand and try to go off on our own.
But He always keeps us in His sight and waits for us to return.
He’s not going to go on the sinful side roads we get distracted by.
He will stand on the Road of Righteousness and call our name, asking us to return so that we can continue the journey with Him.
I’ve been there, done that.
I walked with Him, got distracted, and left Him standing by the road.
His eyes didn’t leave me, and He kept calling, but I kept Him waiting for 18 years while I allowed my attention to focus everywhere but His direction.
When I finally realized I didn’t like walking without Him, I came back.
I apologized for making Him wait, and He took me by the hand again to continue our walk.
This time, I’m committed to the direction.
I agree with whatever Jesus has planned, knowing and trusting that He knows where we are going and He will never leave my side.
Colossians 2:6 says, “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him…”
And Friends, He has the most incredible destination in mind.
Today, as you pray, ask Jesus to help you keep focused on the direction He has for you.
Ask Him to help you trust in His way, even when you’re tempted to take another route.
Thank Him for the journey and privilege of walking with Him.
