PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Last Friday, we had our own wildlife animal encounter in our backyard.
I let my dog out, but as soon as I got back to my bedroom, I heard her barking (which she almost never does).
A glance out the bedroom window told me why… a coyote was standing over a dead deer on the other side of the fence, having venison for breakfast.
We are mystified on how this coyote pulled down this deer, and how on earth my husband and I slept through the kill.
The assumption is that the deer was likely injured because he was big with antlers (I have been advised that they are not called horns…)
As we watched our own version of Animal Planet take place in the backyard, I continued to think of that first view…
A beautiful deer, dead in my yard, as a coyote stood over him, pulling him apart.
I’m sorry if you’re squeamish, but that scene has reminded me of Jesus’ words in John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
Make no mistake, I know this is nature — predator and prey…
But it’s a good reminder that we have an enemy who seeks to devour us.
He wants to bring us down and stop us from sharing The Gospel with others.
Staying focused on Jesus, reading the Bible, and being equipped with the Armor of God is essential to the fight.
I touched on this the other day, but it continues to stay on my mind, and it certainly bears repeating.
Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”
The spiritual war is real, Friends.
There is a battle going on around you and if you are a believer in Jesus, you are a part of the war.
My prayer for each of us is that we rally our fellow troops, and without hesitation, lean on our ultimate Commander Jesus Christ.
We know who wins this fight.
So stay strong.
Today, as you pray, ask the Holy Spirit to help you be prepared for attacks from the enemy.
Ask Him to help you stay strong and focused on Jesus, with the confident assurance that He will be the victor.
