PRAYER PROMPT ••• I am so grateful for 1) an automatic coffee pot I can count on to make my coffee every morning and 2) my husband who prepares and programs it every night.
As I stood in the kitchen this morning, appreciating my favorite appliance and awesome husband, I used my iPhone backlight as a guide to fill my coffee cup.
(It looks as silly as it sounds, I promise.)
But as I stood there, Matthew 5:14a and 16 came to mind, “You are the light of the world… let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Y’all, I love it when God uses the simplest, most ordinary moments to speak to my heart.
Because I needed this.
I’ve been so discouraged.
I don’t feel like a light.
The one I want so badly to bring with me into the Kingdom is indifferent at best; sarcastic at worse.
And it weighs me down, and I feel like a failure.
I have to constantly remind myself that God’s timing is at work.
Even this very moment.
Even if I can’t see any action other than three steps back.
But more than that, it’s my job (and yours) to simply live a life that reflects God’s goodness and grace so when we go out into the world, the world sees us shining with His love.
It’s His job to fix hearts; not ours.
It’s His job to restore souls; not ours.
It’s His job to save others; not ours.
No one on earth can rescue another from eternal damnation.
Only Jesus can do that.
I need to remember my place and remember to pray, be a light, share the Gospel, but give room for God to work, without stepping in His way.

It’s a constant reminder, isn’t it?
I’m sure I’ll spend a lifetime trying to get this lesson learned.
We are masters of rushing, and we want things now.
But there’s a reason that soup and spaghetti are always better the second day… because it takes time for the flavors to work together.
Today, as you pray, ask the Holy Spirit to help you live in patience, understanding that God’s watch isn’t set at the same pace as our own.
And His clock is always right.
Ask Him to hold you firmly in place when you want to run to the rescue and remind you of Who is in charge.
