11.26.21 Praise & Prayer Prompt: Thanksgiving

TODAY’S SIGNATURE VERSE ••• In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NKJV)

PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Happy Friday! And if you’re one of the crazy people who goes shopping on Black Friday — I hope the sales are worth it. I worked retail during two Black Fridays when I was 18 & 19. I’d rather be beaten than be in the middle of that mess but if you’re brave enough — more power to ya!

I also hope you had a great Thanksgiving! My son spent the holiday with his girlfriend while my husband, mom, and I joined our family friends for a delicious meal. It was a great day with some of my favorite people in the world!

As we officially move into the Christmas season (though I am pretty sure the retail world thinks it starts in August), we still have plenty to be grateful for. For the Christian, Thanksgiving isn’t a once a year occasion. It’s a daily attitude.

First Thessalonians 5:18 reminds us, “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” Some things are easier to be grateful for, but the call to gratitude isn’t contingent based on our circumstances.

So please, make today a personal Thanksgiving Day. And tomorrow. And the next. And the one after that. Make thankfulness such a habit that by the time next Thanksgiving rolls around — the concept of Thanksgiving pours from you as effortlessly as a steady stream of gravy pours on your turkey!

Be thankful.

There is always something for which to thank God.

Today, as you pray, thank the Lord for His blessings. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you how to be grateful in both the highs and lows of life.
