PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Last week, I bought a new planner for the coming year.
I’m one of those people who wrestles back and forth with paper versus electronic calendars.
As a computer nerd who thrives being behind a screen, everyone assumes I’m all about the computer calendar and I admit — when you need to share calendars, it’s the best option.
But I’m actually pretty old-school when it comes to my calendar.
There’s something about writing my to-dos down that feels good to me.
I’m very particular about my calendar format and as my friend Amy learned years ago — we NEVER, EVER, EVER use pens on my calendar.
Pencil only!
For the last few days, armed with my favorite mechanical pencil, I’ve enjoyed writing out birthdays and anniversary’s to remember as well as events I know are coming down the pipeline.
But Proverbs 16:9 is a humbling reminder that at the end of the day, we can plan all we want, but God has final say.
The verse says, “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”
This verse is a big one at my house.
It’s my husband’s life verse and he has it painted on the wall that leads to his band room in our basement.
I see it frequently.
And it serves to remind me that I can plan, but I need to be flexible enough for God to work.
Ultimately, His will prevails.
Today, as you pray, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you as you plan.
Ask Him to help you seek His will above your own and when disruptions happen, ask Him to help you be flexible.
