PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Stories about David are among my favorite in Scripture.
I love his determined faith and absolute confidence in God.
It’s a confidence that I want to emulate.
Just before David fought Goliath, he said, “The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me…” (1 Samuel 17:37a)
No hesitation.
No doubt.
And though it’s speculation on my part since obviously, I was not a personal witness, I imagine without any wavering voice or nervous tremor.
He had such incredible assurance in the Lord.
Most of us won’t know the fear of being face-to-face with a lion or bear, but that doesn’t mean we don’t face our own giants.
Today, as you pray, ask the Holy Spirit to help you embrace the faith and confidence of David as you face your battles.
Ask Him to help you remember that the Lord will fight for you as he did for the Israelites when they left Egypt (Exodus 14:14).

Great post! In what has been going on in my life over the past couple of weeks, I really needed that. Things at the moment are not going well (with the whole job search thing). It seems like every time I approach my own giants I barley throw that stone hard enough. Not making a dent in my struggle aka CL job and exam. But I know that if God can get Daniel through what he went through. God can get me through my struggles. It is just hard to see that sometimes. While I am not at the point of giving up, I am just ready for things to be different.
