11.1.18 Praise & Prayer Prompt: The Second Part of Our Prayers

PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• In a moment of crisis, it’s easy to turn to God and beg for help.
Even in not-so-critical moments, we often turn to Him and ask Him to intervene in situations.
While those prayers are important, there’s a two-part process to those kinds of prayers and the second half often comes in a breath of, “Oh, thank God,” as we move on, happy to have a resolution to the crisis or situation.
It’s important to remember that God is worthy of our acknowledgment when He answers us.
And with far more than a sigh of relief on the words, “Thank God.”
Whether the answer is what we were praying for; a not-right-now-you-need-to-wait; or an outright no — our prayers don’t end with the request.
Answered prayers need acknowledgment.
We need to thank Him for hearing us; acknowledge His sovereignty and all-knowing goodness.
And no matter which answer He gives, we need to be sincere, praying prayers of gratitude, praise, and trust as diligently as we did on the front-end of our requests.
Today, as you pray, give praise to God and thank Him for hearing you as you pray.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you pray prayers of gratitude and acknowledgment as answers to your prayers are revealed.
•••

And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. ~ 1 John 5:14-15 ESV
