PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• This week, Tucker Carlson interviewed Kanye West (legally known as ‘Ye,’ which I suppose is the KJV of his name?? Sorry, stupid joke… I couldn’t resist!) The interview has apparently created a firestorm. To be honest, I didn’t watch it, but I read some highlights…. And when asked about his stance on abortion, Kanye replied, “I really don’t care about people’s response; I perform for an audience of one and that’s God.”
Amen. Preach it, Kanye!
I’m not a Kanye West fan, but he nailed it. That’s how we should all feel! We serve an audience of One!
Jesus said, “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:28). Our eternity with God outweighs any temporary criticism by man. While we live in a world that seeks to cancel anyone who disagrees… and we live in a world that calls evil good and good evil (woe to them, according to Isaiah 5:20)… our fear of being rejected by man is something we’ve got to overcome. After all, WE’RE the overcomers because Jesus overcame (John 16:33; 1 John 5:4-5).
It’s the same attitude the psalmist had in Psalm 118: “The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (verse 6).
The fear of man keeps us from inviting friends to church… from talking about our prayer life… from telling others about Christ.
But we weren’t given a spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7)! We are called to live in victory, not defeated with our tails between our legs, worried about others’ opinions of us! We serve an audience of One!
Today, as you pray, thank Jesus that only He is worthy of worship! Thank Him that through His victory, you need not fear anything! Ask the Holy Spirit to encourage your heart and help you reject your spirit of fear.
