PRAYER PROMPT ••• There are some days for which there are no words.
Yesterday was one of them.
I learned about the Vegas shooting after I wrote the morning prayer prompt and like so many, I wondered how on earth someone could do something like that.
Honestly, I’m not going to spend time today writing about the shooting, or Tom Petty’s unexpected death and the conflicting reports that caused so much confusion.
Plenty of other people are, and other than encouraging you to pray for those impacted by the tragedy and loss, I don’t have anything to add to what is already being said.
But what God has impressed on my heart this morning is this – no matter how big the headline or shocking the news report, He’s needs to be my go-to source for when I need comfort, confidence, strength, wisdom, compassion, truth, faith, peace, rest, protection, direction, and every other conceivable need under the sun.
Because He has offered it all through His Son.
Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
How amazing is that truth??
When we need answers, we need to turn to the Bible.
While it may not clarify confusing and erroneous news reports, it offers clarity.
Jesus has told us to come to Him (Matthew 11:28) and we know He cares about every situation (1 Peter 5:7).
There isn’t any situation that God’s word can’t address (Isaiah 40:8).
So today, as you try to filter out the truth from opinions and speculation in the world news, know that the only source for truth comes from God Himself and that He alone can provide.
We won’t understand why He allows bad things to happen, but we know He brings good from bad (Romans 8:28).
Today, as you pray, thank God for being reliable in a world that is so unreliable.
Thank Him that no matter what happens, He is constant and He is perfect.
Let Him know what you need and trust Him to provide.
Thank Him that you don’t have to stand up through it all, but thanks to Jesus’, you can kneel before Him and offer your praise, prayers, requests; and He hears them all!

Romans 8:28 was my main verse during my devotional today. How ironic is that. lol. I really liked your post today. It actually made me cry. Over the past couple of months, I have really been going through a lot and having hospitals not see me for who I really am upsets me. However, God does and he also provides. We just have to get out of his way and let him provide. A lesson I am still in the process of learning. I am the type of person I want something right now. Not later.
Ashley – I LOVE it when God puts a verse in front of me several times in a row. It’s a clear sign He’s talking to me, so I’m grateful that He used me to speak to you today!!! Claim that promise! He’s reminding you that He has it all under control!!! And for now…
Dear Lord, You have great plans for Ashley. Please give her your peace when she’s overwhelmed and frustrated. Please let her remain confident; You are keeping doors closed now because there’s a door You have planned just for her that is exactly what she needs. As You give her time to embrace patience and wait on Your timing, please give her a heart of contentment as she trusts You. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.
Thanks for the prayer! I appreciate it 🙂
