PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• When I was a little girl, my mom used to fuss at me to stop leaning on her…
I was constantly leaning on her in stores, at church, and at home.
After I became a mom and lean-post for my own son, I finally understood.
It wears you out to have someone constantly pushing on you.
But Jesus can handle it.
He invites the whole world to place their burdens at His feet, telling us that His yoke is light and He will carry our loads (Matthew 11:28-30).
As a control-freak, I don’t surrender very easily.
I prefer to think I can handle it all on my own.
But the season I’m in reminds me that I’m not nearly as strong as I’d like to believe.
When things feel out of control, it’s an opportunity to remember that apart from Christ, we can do nothing (John 15:5).
But I take great comfort in knowing we are invited to lean into His strength and let His power keep us going.
Ephesians 6:10 says, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.”
We aren’t asked to do this alone.
We are commanded to lean on Him.
And best of all, He will never push us off and ask us to stand our own.
Today, as you pray, thank Jesus that He’s strong enough for us to lean on…
That He can handle the weight of our problems…
Thank Him for His invitation to lean on Him and that through Him, we can be strong.
