Wouldn’t life be so much better if people always used it?
As Christians, it’s not just a cutesy catchphrase we teach our kids…
It’s based on the words of Jesus.
In Luke 6:31, He said, “And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.”
The truth is that we don’t always understand people around us.
We think their behaviors and actions are weird or uncomfortable, so we pass judgment, make assumptions, or avoid them all together.
The irony is the very thing we do to others is the very thing that upsets us when the tables are turned.
We’re not always going to understand one another, but as the saying goes, “you’ll never look in the eyes of someone God does not love.”
Therefore, let’s treat others with patience, kindness, compassion, love, and sincerity…
Just as you want them to treat you.
Today, as you pray, thank Jesus for laying the foundation of the Golden Rule.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you live it and to treat others with loving kindness.
