PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Yesterday, we talked about being still.
I can tell you with all honesty that being still does not come easily for me.
I constantly feel this need to be doing something.
And my mind…
It never stops.
I’m a walking, textbook case for that meme that says, “My brain is like an internet browser with 17 tabs open, three are frozen, and I have no idea where the music is coming from.”
The good news for those of us who have a hard time with stillness, the Bible has a to-do list for us.
In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, it says, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
And also good news—this divine to-do list is even for those who are better at handling the “be still” instructions.
It’s for all of us!
What a privilege to rejoice in Jesus.
Even on our worst days, we can rejoice because He is the Savior of the world!
And all those conversations you have in your head (hopefully that’s not just me!), turn those into conversations with the Holy Spirit and you’ve got constant prayer covered.
And thankfulness.
There is always a reason to be thankful.
Even in the darkest and most trying circumstances, we can find a reason to be grateful.
The list is both short and simple!
Today, as you pray, thank Jesus for this short and manageable list of instructions that will uplift and empower us and have so many wonderful side-effects in our lives.
Thank the Holy Spirit that He’s there to remind you to rejoice, He’s always there to talk to, and that He can always help you identify something for which to be thankful.
