PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Psalms 121:1-2 says, “I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”
Whenever I read those verses, I can’t help but think of “The Sound of Music” when the Mother Abbess quoted it to Maria (she only said the first verse and it was a slightly different translation than the version I used).
The Scripture reference was made right before the Von Trapps’ escaped the Nazis.
The scriptwriters chose well.
The Reverend Mother’s scene reminds of the truth — the Lord helps us.
Whatever you’re facing, whether it’s marital, issues with the kids, stuff at work, illness, financial, or other — all we need to do is look to the Lord.
Burdens, while they may not go away, are lifted and lightened when we trust God to guide us and help us.
Today, as you pray, thank God for being willing to help us.
Thank Him that He didn’t create us to sit passively by and watch us struggle.
Thank Him for the burdens that remind you to lean on Him and trust Him with your circumstances.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you focus on God’s promises when you feel overwhelmed.
