My Grace-Full Life

1.18.18 Prayer Prompt: More Jesus, Please

PRAYER PROMPT ••• The more I read the Bible, the more I want more stories about Jesus.
Verses like John 20:30 and John 21:25 make me crave more details: “The disciples saw Jesus do many other miraculous signs in addition to the ones recorded in this book.” and “Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written.”
This really makes me wish the disciples would have had access to a video camera, or at the very least, a MacBook to type out more details!
It’s not that I need more proof.
I know Jesus is God’s Son.
I just want to read more about Him.
Can you imagine what it’s going to be like when we get settled in and comfy in Heaven?
Do you suppose we’ll get to hear more about things Jesus said and did during His ministry?
Maybe a reunion of Jesus and the disciples where they will share more stories…
Even the people they interacted with may join in to give their testimonies?
How cool will that be?!?!
I know the Bible is infallible in its content, and perhaps that’s the very reason we don’t get every single anecdote and detail in Scripture.
More would lessen our need for faith (John 20:31); the Bible gives us enough to establish Jesus’ authority as the Son of God.
When the disciple Thomas doubted Jesus’ resurrection before seeing Him, Jesus responded by saying, “‘You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.’” (John 20:29b)
Hebrews 11:1 and 3 say, “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.”
Everything comes down to faith, and as much as I look forward to the day when I can hear and learn more, I love the stories and words we are given in our Bible.
It will make hearing the other stories all the more special when we can hear them directly spoke by Jesus.
Today, as you pray, thank Jesus for His ministry and thank Him for the written accounts of what He did and said.
Thank Him for being the author of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
