My Grace-Full Life

1.17.20 Praise & Prayer Prompt: Be Still

TODAY’S SIGNATURE VERSE ••• “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” (Psalm 46:10 ESV)

PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• Some mornings, the words come easy. This is not one of those mornings.

This is one of those days where I’ve puttered around for about 30 minutes, killing time and waiting for inspiration to hit. What should I write about today? I’ve prayed… what do You want me to talk about today? I’ve scrolled through the news and Facebook… Is there anything noteworthy to bring up? What about… no, I just wrote about that… Lord, I’m running out of time here if I’m going to get this posted by 8 AM so MailChimp can do its thing.

And then, there are the questions I’ve asked weekly for almost three years… How long am I going to do this? When should I stop writing? Has “My Grace-Full Life” run its course?

I don’t have answers to those questions, but I searched for something to say, it hit me. Sometimes, there is nothing to say. Sometimes, we just need to be quiet. And listen.

Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

Be still. Savor the greatness of God.

Be still. Stand in awe of His name.

Be still. Be overwhelmed by His presence.

Be still. Let Him speak to you.

Be still. And know that He is God.

Today, as you pray, thank Him for this truth. He WILL be exalted and one day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess He is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11). Ask the Holy Spirit to help you be still in the chaos. Ask Him to help you listen. And ask Him to help you be in awe of His mighty presence!
