TODAY’S SIGNATURE VERSE ••• Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6 ESV)
PRAISE & PRAYER PROMPT ••• If some random stranger came up to you today and asked you, “Why are you a Christian?,” what would you say?
It’s one of those questions where the responses will vary. And in truth, the reaction to the question may be more telling than the actual answer. Some will readily have an answer. Some will look like a deer caught in headlights. Some will feel painted into a corner. Some might trip over their words.
It’s an on-the-spot question, but one we should be readily available to answer and—even eager to be asked!
We can always point back to Jesus’ words from John 14:6, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” But in your own words—Why are you a Christian?
Y’all know I don’t give homework, but I encourage you to consider this question. Think about the reasons you turned to Jesus. What made you realize you need Him? Consider your life both before and after Christ. Identify the ways He’s changed your heart and life. List how being a Christian has changed you, your family, your attitude, your self-worth, your peace, your friendships, and more. What does it mean to you to follow Christ? And then—go back to the original question.
Why are you a Christian?
Today, as you pray, thank Jesus for being worthy of following. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you articulate what it means to you personally to be a follower of Christ. Ask Him to give you opportunities to share your why with others.
